MPB: Camberwell 3 def. by MCC 4
Goals: Simon Matschoss, Callum Neideck, Harrison Wallace
Coming off the back of a very nice win the week before and getting back simon 'half a hamsting' matchoss and Hugh 'I'm a doctor' slifirski our team was looking stronger than ever. After a long warm up in the sun we knew this would be a battle against MCC as well as one with the conditions too.
The game started off in a very tough arm wrestle with Patto again comanding control of the net and our backline making repeated saves. Sadly they finally got through causing the game to step up another level. The game then continued to have huge swings of momentum between the two sides with Camberwell going into the half 2-1 down after a trademark Wallace flick got us back into the game.
The second half saw much of the same, just with boys starting to cramp and fall to the mercy of the heat. A graceful rebounding run from the team lead by Jared (best copey at chc) resulted in a powerful entry into the circle that saw camberwell equal the score line. With 12 minutes to go Callum, the fastest runner in MPB, scored a beautiful goal for Philippe to abruptly tap it in over the line and claim the spoils. Sadly CHC couldn't hold on to the 3-2 lead with MCC scoring two late goals to come out victors 3-4.
With 46 players this year in MPB and 23 qualified to play finals it is fair to say that we have had a lot of faces that have come in to make our team what it has been this year. Thank you and congratulations to all of those people, it was a true team effort. Well done on all of your individual and team improvements.
Finally a huge thank you must go to Lachie Avil, he went above and beyond being TM for this team this year stepping up in to many different roles that the team required of him and resulting him to be at two games of hockey every weekend (minimum). We would not have progressed as far this season without his help.
