PL Men’s Coaches

It is with great pleasure that I can announce the appointment of Will Unkles as PL Head Coach for 2019 and Paul MacKinnon as his Assistant.

Will career at the club begun in 1991 playing Minkey Hockey with his two older brothers Peter and Steve. His junior career saw premiership in U11, U13, and U15 and he debuted in State League 1 in 2003 when he was 16, retiring from Premier League in 2013 due to persistent back and hand injuries.

Will was a member of the Australian U21 team that won a Gold Medal at the 2007 Youth Olympics. He was a member of the Victorian Vikings Squad from 2006 – 2008. He was a VIS scholarship holder from 2002 – 2009.

He played two seasons in Holland with Were Di Tilburg, first playing in 2010/11

Will coached PLR in 2015, 2016, 2017 (Premiers) and was Assistant Coach Premier League 2018.

Paul grew up in Canberra to a hockey family, with his Father an Australian Selector.

Paul as a 21 year old was a Member of an Australian Development/ AIS Tour Group of Europe which boasted players such as Knowles, Shubert, Brook and Hammond. Despite being on the brink of Australian selection Paul by his own reckoning just fell short.

Paul played extensively in the Euro Hoofdklasse League for Bloemendaal, in Spain for Egara and forged an impressive career as a constant figure in the Australian Indoor Hockey team competing in 2 World Cups for his Country.

Recently Paul has started his own business as a Running Coach (The Balancedrunner).

PLR Coach

We are also very pleased to welcome back Bill Webb as PLR coach.

Bill in his first year as Coach in 2018 managed to steer the team to back to back Premierships. No easy feat given the transition of players through that grade.

Bill is an accomplished hockey player in his own right having recently competed in and won a team event Tournament played at the Gold Coast and is a valued member of the CHC Masters Competition.

I wish all CHC families a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year
