Life member Colin Wansbrough joined the club in 1949, just 17 years after its establishment and proved to be a pivotal figure in Australian hockey. Colin Morley, son of coaching legend Charlie has said "I also credit [Col] as a key, if not the key antagonist in rescuing Camberwell from sliding into mediocrity back in the 1970's"
